You’d think that at the first serious hint of trouble, that the An-225 would have been flown to somewhere a good bit safer, like, say, the US… but NO~OOOO…

They’d have to take Kazakhstan first to obtain the Baikonur Cosmodrome…

They’d have to take Kazakhstan first to obtain the Baikonur Cosmodrome… Given that Putin happily ignores national boundaries and makes up excuses for invading them along the lines of 'Russian Republics' completely out of line with any international conventions, I wouldn't be surprised if the war-mongering fascist asshole is lining up the rest of the old Soviet Republics for inclusion in his desires for Russian 'lebensraum'. Except of course, for Belarus, which is happily acting as the little puppet that he wants.

I think it’s worse than that: I think Putin’s thinking about conquering all of Europe… I certainly hope that's not the case as we'd be talking a full blown European war. I used to think Putin was a despot who used his brains, but the more this goes on, I'm wondering about his rational thought capacity. It's almost like the bravado & sabre-rattling of the 50s and 60s but actually acting on it rather than just talking.

Still scratching my head on why they did not do this?

Have you seen this build? It's making the rounds on FB and Twitter. So, I'm guessing this has something to do with the current invasion of Ukraine?

Let’s not forget the unholy alliance of Pootin Dump and Bin Satan ”The result is more money for Putin’s war machine and the Saudi crown prince, and a significant increase in the chances an oil-industry-friendly Republican Congress will be installed next year and a Putin/Saudi-friendly Republican President will win election in 2024. Trump may be long out of power, but the impact of his corrupt treachery lives on.” www.rawstory.com/high-gas-prices-under-trump/

Still scratching my head on why they did not do this? Probably to do with not retreating all their assets out of the country. Perhaps the #Usethe300 billion Russky dollars locked up in Euro banks to rebuild Ukraines infrastructure and a couple new AN 325s

And available for rent. Did you see the Pootey effectively cancelled all foreign underwritten aircraft leases. About $10 Billion worth. So we take his money and build the An 325s.

So they've made a browser game in which you command a Ukrainian tractor to tow away Russian tanks that run out of fuel and hide them in your shed pixelforest.itch.io/farmers-stealing-tanks"Tow It Like You Stole It!"

Johno also there goes our chance of watching WA's favourite plane deliver some more massive mining equipment ... "The AN-225 travelled to Australia for the first time in May 2016, when it touched down in Perth, carrying a 135-tonne generator for a resources company. Anticipating massive public interest in the massive aircraft, Perth Airport has put up a dedicated viewing area for the public to see the six-engine behemoth." www.wired.com/video/watch/the-largest-plane-in-the-world-stops-traffic-in-australia

The World is laughing at #PooTin as a way of not howling in tears at the needless destruction and murder !!! #UseThe300 is already in the pipeline but only 3billion they reckon!!! "According to the director of the airline, “the engines was dismantled for repairs and the plane wasn’t able to take off that day, although the appropriate commands were given”, the Ukrainian defence ministry said in a statement on Sunday. While there are no detailed reports of what happened to the aircraft as of yet, the Ukrainian defence ministry said “it will be restored” at the expense of Russian authorities. The defence ministry said it will cost over US$3 billion to restore the aircraft, and the project will take over five years." australianaviation.com.au/2022/02/antonov-an-225-destroyed-in-russian-attack/

I’m glad you like them, Carl. Now then, my fellow WhIffers, let us take any further discussion about the mess in Eastern Europe to General Discussion so as to avoid annoying our Benevolent Overlord of WhIffery… who I thank for his tolerance… To be honest, I have no issue with commentary about Russia remaining here, although the General Discussion thread is more appropo. My only concern would be the input of any potential members who might have a different take on the warcrimes currently being perpetuated by Adolf Putin & his 'jackbooted hordes'. Call me one-sided but I will shut that shit down at warp speed. For my input, today we hear that Putin has apparently gone on state TV threatening to "behead the traitor Zelensky in front of his family" and that people sheltering in a building were deliberately targetted by a Russia smart-bomb. Both makes the use of a red armband and black cross appropriate evening wear for Putin and his band of thugs.

Hi Guys:
Here is a new thread on the Russian invasion of Ukraine. If I did not set it up properly, please feel to fix it John.
I just watched a straight from the heart video from Arnold to the Russian citizens and soldiers.
Arnold will now be sanctioned by Pootey-da-booty in 5, 4, 3, 2, 1 ....

This comment is an only observation and is not intended to cause resentment or anger so I'll apologise in advance for any that take it that way.
What I find interesting is that the West is all for 'rescuing' an oil-rich nation from a Third-World despot and even invading said despot's own sovereign territory to 'assist' the population and yet now, we have a European sovereign nation being invaded by a despot that makes that other look like the joke he was and yet the West happily sits on its hands bleating out platitudes and generally saying 'naughty, naughty'.
To suggest that's fairly galling would be an understatement, but suggests that if the enemy aren't tribesmen, second-class soldiers full of bluster or some other such low hanging fruit, these famous "Coalitions of the Willing" shiver and shake like nervous schoolchildren facing the school bully a few grades above them rather than taking on another bully who is apparently in kindergarten.
I only hope the complete inaction of the West doesn't given Fuhrer Putin an excuse to stretch himself out further for more lebensraum. Even now, I would suggest that, much like 1939, Xi Jinping is eying off his own "Greater Co-Prosperity Sphere" with Taiwan firmly in his sights.
