The next series of pics are various RAAF warbirds from WW2 along with panoramic shots of the show (a feature of my camera that allows me to shoot a wide angle).

As an aside, I went into the ADG tent (Airfield Defence Guard - a RAAF light infantry unit tasked with base defence, perimeter patrolling and long-range recon) and had a play with the various small arms displayed. Coming across an L7 or FN-MAG, the helpful young lad mentioned to another person that it weighed roughly 11 kgs. Remembering my service, I asked him if it had a comparable weight to the M60 that I had carried on occasion, as I only knew the 'Pig's' weight at 26lbs or so. The comparison would be similar, but his response was gold. "I'm sorry sir, I haven't had exposure to the platform". Talk about feeling like a seriously old man at that point. Suffice to say, I hefted the weapon onto my hip and the weight was more than familiar. Funnily enough, the F89 SAW, firing the 5.56mm round instead of the 7.62mm of the L7 didn't weight that much different. I asked the young lad if it was the same in my day where you'd just grab the biggest guy in the platoon to carry the GPMG. Amazingly enough, he replied 'no, we give it to the smallest guy'. Apparently it's used as a way of bulking up the smaller members of the platoon. Quite 'character building' I'm sure.
