Thanks, John. VFMA-531 was OTL supposed to be one of the first two USMC F-14 squadrons and were actually in ground school at Miramar when the word came down that the Marine Tomcat program had been cancelled. Needless to say, there were quite a few angry Jarheads in the O-Club!

Whilst I realise USN V-507s have been done, I decided on some of my own. Once again, first up, hi viz schemes.

I’m pretty sure that the CVWR-30 bird hasn’t been done before, I seem to recall seeing the other two…
EDIT: You did a Hi-Viz VF-84 V-507 back in ‘08…

Thanks, John, for the 507s. Nicely done as usual. And good to see the Jolly Rogers and Sundowners again in their full-color glory!

Love the V-507. Better looking than the F-14 IMHO.

By the way, the last of the Marine Corps V-507s seem to have avoided their proper folder…

Re my post of May 5th 2024. A good 'wiffer' never stops digging, so here we have a couple of additions just from tonight. English Electric P30N + A late version of the Bristol Type 198 These both predate the Concorde, from the 1950's. Euan Attachments:

Is this the Douglas competitor for that contract? Nope, one of the Martin iterations of the design.

It’s certainly not the version depicted in U.S. Bombers.

It’s certainly not the version depicted in U.S. Bombers. Martin Model 316, either earlier than the other straight winged version or later. The discussions are quite muddled there, but still part of the program. Personally, I'd seen the more boxy looking variant online, but preferred the look of this one. PS, also worth noting that Martin apparently shredded much of their design paperwork for some reason according to their museum. Attachments:

It was probably done at the behest of Uncle Sam, because as of the time that book was published, the program was still mostly classified, even though it had been cancelled decades earlier…
At any rate, the delta wing configuration is what’s shown in the book.
